Bafana star on why Esperance has an advantage over Sundowns

Bafana Bafana star Elias Mokwana has explained why his team, Esperance, might have an advantage over Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Tunisian giants face Masandawana in the first leg of the CAF Champions League quarterfinal at the Loftus Versfeld. Mokwana, who joined Esperance before the start of the season, admitted the Brazilians have an advantage playing at home, but his team also have an advantage knowing how Miguel Cardoso plays.

Cardoso coached the North African giants before joining Sundowns midseason after Manqoba Mngqithi’s sacking. The Bafana winger expects both Sundowns and Esperance to go all out on Wednesday afternoon.

“Ja, I guess they have an advantage there, but also it is for us because we know how he [Cardoso] structures his play,” Mokwana told iDiski Times.

“It’s going to be a good match. I think it is the two greatest teams coming up against each other. I think both teams have great players.

“It is the final before the final. Whoever wants it the most will be the one who wins it,” he added.

Bafana star confident Esperance can beat Sundowns

The two teams faced off last season in the semi-final of the same competition. The Tunisian giants claimed a 2-0 aggregate win to reach the final, where they were beaten by Al Ahly. Ironically, the winner of the tie could meet the Red Devils in the semis.

Before joining Esperance, Mokwana was linked to Kaizer Chiefs and Sundowns, but the former Sekhukhune United star opted to join North African giants, where he has impressed.

Can Mokwana be the difference against Sundowns or will he flop?
