For many people, birthday celebrations are often among the top highlights of the year that people look forward to having, for the former Nomzamo actress Ayanda Borotho, this year, it was bittersweet.
The actress took to the social media platform Instagram to reveal how she has made the conscious decision not to celebrate her 44th birthday this year.
This is because this year marked the very first year without having her twin brother around. This comes after her brother Sandile Ngubane, affectionately known by his family friends as “Hammer”, passed away in November last year, after he was said to have suffered a short illness.
For Ayanda, who is not only his sister but also shared the womb with her brother, this was a moment of deep pain.
In a heartfelt post, she took to Instagram to share a video clip capturing some of the most significant memories of their childhood and adult milestones.
“Just like you would always say to me ‘sho Mayadiz’, my last words to you at your funeral were ‘sho Hammer’.
She added: “I did not celebrate our birthday. I slept instead but was sure to bid you goodnight in the only way you would understand… ‘sho Hammer’”.
In the conclusion of her post, the talented actress noted that despite two months having passed by, she found herself still healing from the loss.
Ayanda is known for having played in various productions aside from Nomzamo. Some other known productions include Isibaya as well as Sibongile and the Dlaminis.
