Orlando Pirates have business to do in the winter. There’s also an ironic twist involving Kaizer Chiefs and a goalkeeper.

Visagie could be key in Chiefs’ chase of Nwabali

According to Soccer Laduma, Chippa United want to sign Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Ethan Visagie. He’s yet to make his Bucs debut. Pirates have a surplus of goalkeepers on their books and are keen to send Visagie out on loan to gain valuable first-team experience. The Chilli Boys see 23-year-old Visagie as the perfect replacement for Stanley Nwabali, who they expect to leave. The Nigerian Number 1, Nwabali, is wanted across the PSL and in Europe. The 28-year-old, who stands at an impressive 1.96m tall, has made 19 appearances in the league this term.

Lifeline for Timm at Orlando Pirates?

The former Marumo Gallants midfield schemer has struggled for game time. Makhehlene Makhaula has become the first-choice pairing in the centre of the park. Even Kabelo Dlamini, more of an attacking midfielder, has been trusted in that deeper role more often than 33-year-old Timm. Could the experienced midfield general get a second chance with a new manager at the helm? Perhaps it’ll depend on who that man is.

Rhodes is a target

The joker in the pack. Talk of Patrick Maswanganyi leaving the club continues to intensify, so it makes sense that the club might look for a new young playmaker. Cape Town City’s 21-year-old Jaedin Rhodes can operate in the number 10 role or in wide attacking positions. His potential arrival would add more youth, potency and fluidity to a front line already including Relebohile Mofokeng and Mohau Nkota. If City end up getting relegated this season, it’s inevitable they’ll be forced to sell their prized assets, and Rhodes is perhaps their most valuable.

Could Steve Barker become the next Pirates boss?

Stellenbosch FC are arguably the most well-run club in South Africa’s PSL, all things considered and factoring in their financial resources. Manager Steve Barker has done a stellar job with the Cape Winelands, turning Stellies into a dangerous side who can cause anyone problems on any given day. They also won the first trophy in their history under Barker, the Carling Knockout 2024.
