Kaizer Chiefs are in a spot of bother again with more injuries and poor results. Have they found an alternative to Appollis though?
Injury crisis deepens for Chiefs
SoccerLadumaconfirmed that left-back Bradley Cross will spend several weeks on the sidelines. His absence adds to a deepening issue for Chiefs who can count over half a dozen unavailable players.
“Ahead of their match against Polokwane City on Sunday, the club confirmed that Dillan Solomons is recovering from a hamstring injury, while Nkosingiphile Ngcobo is nursing a hip injury. Both players are expected to return in 3-4 weeks, offering some hope for the squad’s depth. The situation, however, has taken a turn for the worse, as Chiefs’ injury woes continue to mount. Defender Given Msimango has also been ruled out due to a recent illness, adding to the club’s list of unavailable players. But perhaps the most concerning development came during Chiefs’ 2-0 loss to Polokwane City on Sunday afternoon. Left-back Bradley Cross suffered a horror injury after a rough challenge from Polokwane’s Thabang Matuludi. After the match, Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi revealed that Cross could be sidelined for up to two months, further depleting an already stretched defensive line.”
Cross, Edson Castillo, Edmilson Dove, Dillan Solomons, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo and Reeve Frosler are all injured. Meanwhile, Spiwe Given Msimango is out with illness but should return soon.
Nabi says he’s not Jose Mourinho
Duh. But yes.
“We controlled the game maybe 90 minutes, against a strong team like Polokwane. Polokwane created two opportunities, it’s two goals. Kaizer Chiefs created 265 opportunities. This is football, it’s a problem of Kaizer Chiefs, This is football, you have objectives, step by step. I observed my team’s progress, the only problem was scoring. Last game [people] said ‘Nabi this and that’ no problem. I’m very happy with the comeback of Potsane, he created too many opportunities for his first game this season. I’m very happy. But this is football, it’s not every time you change it all. I’m not [Jose] Mourinho, I’m Nabi okay” Nabi said via Soccer-Laduma.
Chiefs find a Plan B in case Appollis doesn’t sign
Oswin Appollis is a long-term target for Chiefs after shining for Polokwane and Bafana Bafana. Signing the 23-year-old might be difficult, however, so Amakhosi’s board is finding alternatives. According to SoccerLaduma, AmaZulu’s Tshepang Moremi is one of the leading contenders.
Will Nabi turn things around?
