Don’t put away your blankets and coats just yet; another cold front is on the way to Gauteng this coming week.

Gauteng Weather, a regional forecaster, expects the cold weather to arrive on Wednesday. Temperatures are predicted to drop below 20°C in many areas of the province.

In Pretoria, warm conditions can be expected from Sunday to Tuesday, with temperatures reaching a high of 23°C. However, on Thursday, the temperature will drop to 16°C, and there is a 60% chance of rain. Johannesburg will remain relatively warm this Easter weekend.

The cold front will hit on Wednesday, with Johannesburg reaching a maximum of 18°C. On Thursday, the city will experience its coldest day of the week, with temperatures dropping to 15°C. Residents in and around Johannesburg can expect similar weather on Friday.

The South African Weather Service anticipates that the cold front in Gauteng will dissipate by next weekend. Looking ahead, forecast models suggest that a trough will linger over the region throughout much of next week, leading to unsettled but seasonable weather conditions.

Cold front to bring rain to Gauteng

In recent weeks, KwaZulu-Natal has experienced extreme weather conditions. On Wednesday, a 33-year-old drowned in KZN after a taxi she was in was swept away while crossing a flooded river during severe weather. The Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) has assured residents that disaster management teams will remain on alert and monitor the weather conditions.
