Anele Mdoda stuns in traditional dress at her Oscar-nominated short film premier

Media personality, Anele Mdoda exuded Xhosa princess when she rocked ‘umbhaco’- a Xhosa traditional regalia in the private screening of her Oscar-nominated short film, Last Ranger that took place in Montecasino Johannesburg recently.

Directed by Cindy Lee, the short film that gained an international nod with an Oscar Award nomination stars Avumile Qongqo, Liyabona Mroqoza and Makhaola Ndebele. The film tells a story of young Litha who is introduced to the magic of a game reserve by the last remaining ranger and later they are ambushed by poachers. In the ensuing battle to save the rhinos, Litha discovers a terrible secret.

Recently the private screening of the the Oscar-nominated local film turned in a star-studded affair, with Grammy-Award-winner musicians Lebo M and flautist Wouter Kellerman in attendance. Among others Zikhona Sodlaka, Busiswa, Toka Mtabane, Trevor Gumbi,  Dineo Langa and her husband Solo also attended.

In his spotted segment, entertainment commentator Phil Mphela shared a clip of Anele in the red carpet.

Anele once took to her X (formerly Twitter) page to excitedly share that Last Ranger has been nominated for an Oscar Award.

The local short film has earned an Academy Award nomination in the category of Best Live Action Short Film. The film was produced by Six Feet and supported by Anele.
