ANC denies Mkhize will enjoy special treatment

The ANC has condemned the behaviour of the passenger who went viral on a Boxing Day FlySafair flight for unruly, drunken shenanigans.

Footage of the incident revealed a chaotic scene where the passenger, later identified as South African Broadcasting Corporation ( SABC) brand manager Nobuntu Mkhize, in a heated dispute over alcohol during the flight.

Mkhize: I’m an ANC b*%#

In the scuffle, Mkhize can be witnessed on film demanding a drink and shouting at staff and other passengers who were attempting to help restrain her.

“You don’t know who my father is… I am an ANC b*%#.” Nobuntu Mkhize

However, the ANC has since released a statement fiercely attempting to distance itself from any insinuation that Mkhize will enjoy special treatment.

“The African National Congress (ANC) has noted with disgust and disdain the behaviour of a woman aboard a domestic flight who acted in an unruly and unbecoming manner while invoking the name of the ANC as if to justify her actions.” Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri

In fact, the ruling party has confirmed it will be investigating whether or not Mkhize is indeed an ANC member.

“The ANC categorically distances itself from such behaviour, which is contrary to the values and principles of our movement. Regardless of whether this individual is a member of the ANC, we unequivocally state that no person has the right to behave in such an unacceptable manner, and certainly not while misusing the good name of the ANC. We have initiated an investigation into her membership status.” Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri

The ANCis also adamant that should they discover Mkhize is an ANC member it wouldn’t absolve her of her behaviour in the least.

“However, even if it is confirmed that she is a member, her conduct is inexcusable and deeply embarrassing. The ANC will not allow its name to be dragged through the mud by individuals who fail to uphold the dignity and decorum expected of all South Africans, let alone members of our organisation.” Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri

Consequences pilling up over booze-fueled altercation

FlySafair spokesperson Kirby Gordon has revealed that the incident won’t be swept under the table. Mkhize was swiftly handed over to police upon her arrival in Cape Town.

Additionally, Mkhize has been added to a no-fly list and will be barred from future FlySafair flights. Amusingly, it seems whatever special treatment the SABC official thought she would enjoy has been unceremoniously withheld.

Do you think Mkhize will be held accountable for her behaviour?
