TxC wins their first BET Award

South African DJ duo TxC has proudly brought home a win from the 2025 BET Awards, held at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles.

The Amapiano stars, made up of Tarryn Reid and Clairise Hefke, were honoured with the Best New International Act award, a major milestone in their music journey.

The Gqeberha-born best friends faced tough competition, not just from fellow South Africans like Dlala Thukzin and Maglera Doe Boy, but also from global talents such as Shallipopi (Nigeria), Ajuliacosta and Amabbi (Brazil), Abigail Chams (Tanzania), Dr. Yaro and Merveille (France), and Odeal and KWN from the United Kingdom.

Despite the high-profile lineup, TxC stood out, a reflection of how far they’ve come since starting their music journey in 2019.

The duo, who bonded over their love for Amapiano, started by curating playlists on their balcony and quickly transformed that passion into a fast-growing career.

Taking to Instagram, the duo expressed gratitude:

“Own race, own pace! We’re two girls from South Africa who had a dream and tonight that dream became real. Thank you BET for this incredible recognition. To our fans who played such a big role in this, your love carried us through every stage, every late night, every set. We see you, and we share this moment with you. To our families and our label LVRN records, we thank you for standing by us when this was just an idea. To the women out there chasing their dreams, we’re literally UP!”

“This isn’t just our win, it’s for South Africa, Amapiano, African dance music & DJ’s! Thank you, we love y’all!”
