Thapelo Mokoena excited over 8 AMVCA nominations bagged
South African actor Thapelo Mokoena is beaming with pride as Skeleton Coast, the film he stars in, secures eight nominations at the 2025 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
Taking to social media, the seasoned actor expressed gratitude for the recognition, particularly for being nominated in the Best Lead Actor category.
“It’s been so hectic I haven’t even gotten a chance to properly appreciate this nomination and the crew and cast behind this project of ours. We can’t wait for the global release so we can all enjoy it worldwide,” he shared.
The film, which has only had a limited No. 1 release in Namibia so far, has been nominated in the following categories:

Thapelo also revealed that international audiences won’t have to wait much longer.
“Updates on the global release will be coming soon. A Pan-African project combining the talents and expertise of five countries—South Africa, Namibia, Nigeria, USA, and Ghana—to tell an amazing story on the Skeleton Coast of Namibia,” he concluded.
