Magesi FC coach Clinton Larsen believes it’s just a matter of time before his striker Wonderboy Makhubu is called up to the Bafana Bafana squad.
Makhubu has been in fine form for the Betway Premiership newbies.
He has for far netted two goals in six matches. The former Sekhukhune United striker has also played a key role in the team reaching the historic Carling Knockout Final. Larsen says he is yet to see a better striker like Makhubu from the opponents that they have played with this season.
MAGESI FC STRIKER TIPPED FOR A BAFANA BAFANA CALL-UP IN THE NEAR FUTURE
“I think it’s just a matter of time [before he is called up to the national team],” said Larsen.
“I have been around the block a few times and I don’t think I have seen a better striker in the teams that we have played so far. It’s my honest opinion. I rate him very highly so I believe that once he reaches double figures, a lot of other teams will start to take note of him.”
“Like I said, he may not have the experience of a lot of players in the Premier League, but he has rare qualities for a striker. He is one of the hardest-working strikers in the league.”
WONDERBOY MAKHUBU COMMENDED BY COACH CLINTON LARSEN FOR HIS HARD WORK
“When you talk about defending from the front, his name is up there with the best. He puts Defenders under so much pressure with his selfless pressing actions. He is always available to receive the ball when the team is defending. Again, I am going to say this, outside of Wonderboy, the player, it’s Wonderboy the beautiful human being.
“Clean heart, and comes to training every day with a smile on his face. Those are the type of players some of us coaches really take to. They are such a pleasure to coach and when success comes their way, you can’t be anything but happy for such people. Wonderboy is one of those.”
