A LOOK AT ROBERT GUMEDE’S NET WORTH, COMPANIES AND MORE
Those outside the business world best know him as a ‘proud father’ who brought US hip-hop star Rick Ross to perform at his son’s birthday party.
However, most South Africans know Robert Gumede as Sim Dope’s father.
Sim Dope, real name Simphiwe Gumede, was one of slain Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes’s best friends and even named one of his smash hits (Sim Dope) after him.
Gumede once made headlines when he bought Sim Dope a Porsche worth millions when he passed his matric.
BUSINESS PORTFOLIO AND NET WORTH
In the business world, he is the brains behind one of the biggest IT firms, Gijima Technologies. The firm is part of the Gijima group, the largest 100% black-owned IT company in Africa.
Apart from the group of companies, Robert Gumede reportedly has several business investments under his watch.

A SOFT SPOT FOR SPORTS
Like other billionaires before him, Robert Gumede has splurged thousands, if not millions, on sports. As an administrator and owner, he was once involved in rugby and football across all verticals.
He was behind Nelspruit Dangerous Darkies FC’s glory days, taking them from the fifth division to the Premier Soccer League.
The club’s big wins saw the business tycoon going down in the history books as the youngest owner of a PSL club in the 80s.
However, Darkies also produced household names like David Nyathi, who starred in Switzerland, Spain, and Italy during the peak of his career.
The business mogul ventured into premium rugby when he broke the race barrier by buying 49% of the major then Afrikaner-owned and led South African rugby club, the Lions.
In 2022, he was appointed to serve in the world football governing body FIFA’s Foundation advisory board.
