However, despite this unprecedented workforce expansion, current trends indicate that job creation is lagging significantly behind, with available employment opportunities only meeting half of the demand, says Dr Susan Lund from the International Finance Corporation.
The challenge is clear: Africa’s economic boom must translate into sustainable, high-quality job creation.

While foreign direct investment and private capital flows have returned to the continent, investment in skills development, digital infrastructure, and entrepreneurship must accelerate.
The B20 has a critical role to play in addressing this gap.

Business leaders must step up efforts to foster innovation, enhance digital education, and create an enabling environment for SMEs and startups.
AI and automation are reshaping industries, and Africa has the unique advantage of leapfrogging traditional economic models by directly integrating these technologies into its workforce.
