TS Galaxy snapped their winless streak with a victory over Sekhukhune United, while SuperSport United dropped points in their match against Chippa United.
In another league fixture on Tuesday night, Golden Arrows secured a thrilling 3-2 win over Royal AM in the KZN Derby.
Nine goals were scored across all three league games on the night, with Galaxy collecting their first maximum points of the 2024/25 Betway Premiership season with a 3-1 win over Babina Noko at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
The Rockets found the back of the net against the Limpopo-based side through an own-goal from Tresor Yamba Yamba, a clean strike from Victor Letsoalo and a second-half goal from Dženan Zajmović. Sekhukhune pulled one back on the 90th-minute mark courtesy of Lesedi Kapinga.
Before beating Sekhukhune, Galaxy were winless in their six opening matches of the season with just two points under their name. The Mpumalanga-based side also crashed out of the first round of the 2024 MTN8 at the hands of Stellenbosch FC.
In addition, Galaxy missed out on another opportunity to fight for the Carling Knockout Cup after losing 1-0 against Magesi FC in the semi-final earlier this month.
As a result of the turbulent start to the season, their head coach, Sead Ramovic, surprisingly resigned from his role. The German-born mentor has already taken over a new job after being appointed as the head coach of Young Africans SC.
SUPERSPORT UNITED PLAY TO A GOALLESS DRAW AGAINST CHIPPA UNITED
Elsewhere, SuperSport United dropped points after playing to a dull goalless draw against Chippa United at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
Matsatsantsa A Pitori are winless in their last five league matches. SuperSport last claimed a win on the 25th of September against TS Galaxy.
SuperSport’s inconsistent run also saw them exit the Carling Cup last 16 with a 4-0 drubbing by Kaizer Chiefs. The Tshwane side is sitting seventh on the log standings with nine points after eight matches played so far.
Meanwhile, Golden Arrows came from behind to beat Royal AM 3-2 at Harry Gwala Stadium, thanks to a brace by Ryan Moon and an own goal by Zukile Mkhize.
Royal AM found the net through Thabo Matlaba andSibusiso Magaqa in the game that had to bemoved to the 21:00 kickoff after Abafana Bes’thende failed to make it on time into the stadium due to heavy traffic.
