In a letter dated June 20, addressed to Maarohanye’s legal team, Acting Deputy Director of Public Prosecution in Joburg, Tj Mbodi, stated:
“After careful perusal of the above-mentioned police docket, together with the relevant prosecutors’ report read in conjunction with your representation, this office has decided to withdraw the charges against the accused as there are no reasonable prospects of a successful prosecution.
“Your representation is therefore successful and the criminal case against the accused must be withdrawn.”
National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson, Phindi Mjonondwane, confirmed the decision, adding: “After consideration of the case docket, the report from the prosecutor, and the representations lodged to the Director of Public Prosecution’s office, that office came to a conclusion that there are no reasonable prospects of a successful prosecution and the sensible thing to do was to withdraw the charges against Molemo Maarohanye.”

To add more spice to the saga, TV personality and businesswoman Amanda du Pont had previously accused her ex-boyfriend Maarohanye of raping her, a claim he allegedly admitted to.

This bombshell was included in a police statement supporting a rape case she filed against the rapper at Brixton Police Station in Joburg in 2022.
Du Pont initially made these allegations public in a video clip posted on her Instagram account, following Maarohanye’s controversial comments during an interview with podcaster Mac G where he boasted about “smashing” her.
The withdrawal of charges has sparked a mix of relief and outrage among the public. Supporters of Maarohanye are celebrating the decision, while critics argue that it undermines the severity of the allegations.
The case remains a hot topic, raising questions about justice, accountability, and the influence of public opinion in high-profile cases.
Meanwhile, Maarohanye expressed his gratitude to his legal team for their unwavering commitment to justice and truth.
“This verdict brings a sense of relief and vindication not only to me but also to all those who supported me. The outpouring of support has been truly touching, and I am grateful for it,” read the statement.
