26-year-old teacher Marcel Roux was crowned Mr South Africa 2024in a ceremony at Vodacom World Events in Johannesburg. Big Brother star Sinaye Kotobe, with reigning Mr. Universe South Africa, Ntando Lurwengu honoured Marcel with the Mr South Africa sash.
Cape Town Etc reports that Marcel’s wife entered him into the competition and while he was hesitant about taking part in the competition, he embraced the experience.

“Honoured, humbled, and beyond grateful to be crowned Mr. South Africa. This journey has been about resilience, dedication, and the unwavering support of everyone who believed in me. Thank you to my family, friends, and every person who stood by me and fueled my purpose,” he wrote.
“Together, we’ve shown that dreams, hard work, and passion can truly transform lives. Here’s to representing our beautiful nation and making a difference every step of the way,” he continued.
“A big thank you to the @mr.southafrica_official brandpartners that paved the way ahead and looked after us during our preparations,” he continued.
