  • Prominent IFP leader Thulasizwe Buthelezi praised ANC leader Sithole-Moloi’s R30-million project instead of investigating her.
  • Some ANC leaders want another IFP MEC to investigate her after Buthelezi refused.

The Rev Thulasizwe Buthelezi was asked by the provincial ANC leadership to investigate ANC Women’s League leader Bongi Sithole-Moloi. Instead, he praised her.

Buthelezi is a prominent IFP leader, provincial Cogta MEC and traditional prime minister to the King.

Speaking in Nquthu about a R30-million development project, Buthelezi thanked Sithole-Moloi for her work as the former Cogta MEC.

“The lives of residents in the small town of Nquthu have significantly improved following a R30-million investment by the department to enhance basic services. This investment includes the rollout of solar street lights and the electrification of 500 households,” said Buthelezi.

Her former ministry head, Lindokuhle Xulu, praised Buthelezi for standing up for women in politics.

“We really appreciate the recognition of Sithole-Moloi’s work by Rev Buthelezi. But it is quite worrisome that in the ANC there are leaders who decided to persecute her instead of learning from her political experience,” said Xulu.

He wants ANC boss Fikile Mbalula to look into claims that some leaders worked with other parties to target their own members.

Sources say Sithole-Moloi might lead the interim structure of the ANC in KZN if the current leadership is removed next month. Some leaders now allegedly want the IFP’s Agriculture MEC Thembeni KaMadlopha-Mthethwa to investigate her after Buthelezi refused.
