Kaizer Chiefs secured a big victory to pick up maximum points in the DStv Diski Challenge [DDC] as Orlando Pirates stumbled at the weekend.
The Buccaneers dropped points after settling for a 1-1 draw against Richards Bay FC at Isak Steyl Stadium on Saturday. After conceding a goal in the first-half, they mounted a strong response in the second half, equalising through Mehluleli Maphumulo.
Despite their efforts to find a late winner, they couldn’t hit the back of the net again.
Ezimnyama Ngenkani now sit in the seventh place in the league standings, having amassed 19 points from 11 matches.
On the same day, Bernard Parker’s TS Galaxy maintained their winning form, defeating league newcomers Magesi FC with a scoreline of 3-1.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, Amakhosi triumphed over Cape Town City FC with a decisive 3-0 victory at Malta Park, scoring all three goals in the first half to secure an away win.
Vela Khumalo’s side remains in second place, holding 23 points after 10 matches they have played.
In other matches, reigning champions Stellenbosch FC got back to winning ways with a slender 1-0 victory over Polokwane City FC at Idas Valley Stadium.Â
Stellies retained their top spot on the table, having accumulated 23 points from a possible 33 in 11 games they have played thus far.
Moreover, Mamelodi Sundowns triumphed over Chippa United with a 3-1 victory at Sturrock Park. The Tshwane giants still sit third in the standings with 19 points after nine games they have played.
