Lebogang, an author, international speaker, MC, facilitator, and HIV and Teen coach, has been living with the virus for years.
Her journey began when she crossed paths with a popular singer, Zombo, who unknowingly infected her. Little did she know that her life was about to take a devastating turn.
As a fun-loving but naive 17-year-old, Lebogang found herself caught in the whirlwind of fame and excitement.
She went clubbing and caught Zombo’s attention, oblivious to the weight he had lost due to his own battle with HIV. In her young and desperate mind, she could only envision the headlines proclaiming her pregnancy with Zombo’s child.
After communicating with Zombo over the phone, they decided to meet up and had unprotected sex.

This single act led to Lebogang contracting the virus and becoming pregnant. However, when she revealed the news to Zombo, he denied any responsibility, leaving her in a state of shock and despair.
Desperate and feeling trapped, Lebogang made the unthinkable decision to attempt an abortion in her third trimester. This tragic choice resulted in the premature birth of her baby, who sadly did not survive.
Lebogang firmly believes that she contracted the virus from Zombo, as they slept together after the burial of their son.
It was only later, when Zombo appeared on a live TV show with Arthur Mafokate, that he revealed his own HIV status and admitted to intentionally infecting others.
Before the show aired, Zombo reached out to Lebogang, urging her to watch it. This cruel act of manipulation further deepened the wounds she had already endured.

Well, people lose weight, so It wasn’t a big deal. He approached me and asked for my numbers, and I gave them to him. We hugged, and he left the club. #BeyondSilence #letstalk

We had sex everywhere and anywhere, mostly in his white golf 1. I remember the wife would call me to leave him alone, did I listen? Nah, I was on a mission. To date, I feel she was warning me, but at the time, I didn’t really care. I wanted the fame. #BeyondSilence #letstal

I eventually fell pregnant, and I was so excited. I called to inform him, and he denied the pregnancy. After some time at 6/7 months, I decided to have an abortion at a back street clinic. Went on with my life. #BeyondSilence #letstalk

Now you probably thinking the first thing I would do is test? Nope, I thought I was immune to getting infected with HIV, I just never associated myself with the virus. #BeyondSilence #Letstalk

HIV doesn’t have a face, and it can happen to anyone. Let’s start testing regularly with our partners. Get on prep, and use a condom consistently. An HIV infection is avoidable. @BeyondZeroSA #BeyondSilence #letstalk
