In the wake of the devastating car accident involving PSL star Shaune Mogaila, which tragically claimed the life of a nine-year-old girl, Sekhukhune United have released a statement addressing the fatal incident involving their player.
Sekhukhune extended their deepest condolences to the family of the deceased and stated that they would not comment further as the matter is currently before the courts.
The former Royal AM attacker was involved in an accident in the early hours of Wednesday, 30 October 2023, at Tembisa, east of Johannesburg. After being involved in the horrific car crash, Mogaila sustained minor head injuries, whereas the mother of the deceased and the 13-year-old neighbour were rushed to the hospital after suffering serious injuries.
Mogaila fled the accident scene on foot before he handed himself over to the Rabie Ridge police station on Wednesday afternoon.
Meanwhile, alcohol, dagga, and a white powder believed to be cocaine were found in Mogaila’s car. A video of the accident has since surfaced on social media, showing Mogaila losing control of his BMW to collide with a red Hyundai Grand I10 driving in the opposite lane.
The case of culpable homicide, reckless and negligent driving, and fleeing the scene of the accident has been opened against the 29-year-old.
Mogaila was scheduled to appear in court onbThursday morning in Tembisa Magistrate Court, however the appearance didn’t take place due to incomplete docket according to the National Prosecution Authority (NPA).

His club, Sekhukhune United, has now released a statement conveying their condolences to the affected family.
Sekhukhune United FC regrettably learnt of the unfortunate incident involving one of our players, Shaune Mogaila,” reads the club statement.
“We would like to convey our deepest and heartfelt condolences to the family of the minor who lost her life.
“Our thoughts and prayers are also with those who have been injured, and we wish them a speedy recovery.
The Club is unable to comment further as the matter is before the court.”
