The South African Police Service (SAPS) received over 185 000 applications within just 48 hours for its Basic Police Learning Development Training Programme (BPLDTP), indicating a surge in interest from the country’s youth.
Gauteng leads the provinces with more than 53 000 applications. KwaZulu-Natal follows with 30 000. Limpopo with 20 000, the Eastern Cape with 19 000, and Mpumalanga with 18 000.
The Western Cape recorded 17 000 applications, the Free State 14 000, the North West 11 000, and the Northern Cape the fewest with 4 000.

Female applicants have taken the lead with over 105 000 submissions, while male applicants total just over 80 000.
