Kaizer Chiefs are stepping up their transfer window activity ahead of their pre-season tour to the Netherlands.

Chiefs are set to depart for Europe next month and will have a plethora of new faces on that trip.

Chiefs revamp their left-back options

It is no secret that they are looking to bolster their attack going into next season. But that is just one department, as they are also intent on adding strength and depth to their defence. One position that is reportedly earmarked for that is the left-back berth. As it stands, Chiefshave Bradley Cross, Happy Mashiane. Edmilson Dove has recently been released while Bongani Sam is tipped to follow.

Although they’re set to welcome former Orlando Piratesstar Paseka Mako, Chiefs are also in talks with other options. This publication reported earlier this month that they had opened negotiations with Aphiwe Baliti of SuperSport United. Just when those negotiations started taking centre stage, the club moved on another target.

Shinga agreement struck

According to FARPost, Chiefs have reached an agreement to sign Portuguese-based left-back Nkanyiso Shinga!

“Kaizer Chiefs have reached an agreement with Portuguese top-flight club FC Alverca to sign Nkanyiso Shinga. The transfer is pending a medical examination and the finalisation of personal terms. The club first engaged Shinga late last year. However, following Alverca’s promotion to the Primeira Liga, closing the deal became more difficult. The Alverca do Ribatejo-based club was also eager to extend his contract. Shinga, who has been in Portugal for seven years, had a year left on his contract with the newly promoted side, which was set to expire in June 2026. The club first engaged Shinga late last year.
