Kaizer Chiefs transfer news: Two wingers

Kaizer Chiefs have two wingers on their radar, both of which have been long-term targets.

Asanele Velebayi and Oswin Appollis are the players in question. AmaKhosi was hoping for a double scoop last off-season but failed to make either move happen. Now, it appears it’s up to them.

Velebayi has become a free agent following Cape Town Spurs’ relegation from the National First Division, while Polokwane City seems ready to offload Appollis, who endured a lacklustre last half of the season.

“What we believe is that apparently the talks involving Appollis and Kaizer Chiefs are at an advanced stage,” SoccerLaduma reported.

Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs have been surprisingly reluctant to land Velebayi, who was on the top of their list this time last year. They could soon make their move, but it’s no guarantee as things stand.

Rapoo inbound?

Another youngster on AmaKhosi’s radar is teenager Neo Rapoo. The SuperSport United defender is weighing up his options between Chiefs and Pirates.

“Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs are both keen to sign SuperSport United left-back Neo Rapoo ahead of the new season,” an inside source revealed.

“His performances as he led South Africa U20 to the Africa Cup of Nations title earned him interest in Scandinavia and the Gulf but sources as Matsatsansa have confirmed Chiefs and Pirates are both seriously after the player who is seen as future senior national team left-back.”

“With Orlando Pirates having released Paseka Mako and the retirement of Innocent Maela, their interest on the promising full-back comes as no surprise, while Chiefs are looking to remedy a position that has plagued them in the last couple of seasons.”
