President Cyril congratulates Leleti Khumalo for recent international recognition bagged

Veteran actress Leleti Khumalo has earned high praise from President Cyril Ramaphosa after she and film producer Anant Singh received international recognition at the Monte Carlo Television Festival.

The two brought home the prestigious Golden Nymph Award for their collaboration on the powerful drama short film Don’t Give Up.

Taking to social media on 20 June 2025, President Ramaphosa expressed his admiration and joy over the duo’s global achievement.

Reflecting on a recent encounter at OR Tambo International Airport, he recalled a brief but meaningful moment.

“On my travels to and from the G7 Leaders’ Summit in Canada, I had the good and proud fortune of bumping into our veteran star performer Leleti Khumalo at OR Tambo International Airport.”

Ramaphosa revealed that Khumalo had already hinted at her triumph before he even heard the official news.

“Leleti did have something to declare: she’d returned from the Monte Carlo Television Festival in Monaco, where she and acclaimed film producer Anant Singh had won the prestigious Golden Nymph Award for their work on the short film, Don’t Give Up.”

The acclaimed film tells the emotional story of a single mother navigating the harsh realities of life in Johannesburg while trying to care for her two children.

President Ramaphosa commended both Khumalo and Singh for using their artistry to shed light on critical issues affecting South Africans.

“I congratulate Leleti Khumalo and Anant Singh for flying our flag and for spotlighting one of our nation’s socio-economic challenges,” he added.

Their win has been widely celebrated by fans and fellow creatives, marking yet another milestone in Khumalo’s decorated career and affirming the global impact of South African storytelling.
