On Thursday, Orlando Pirates confirmed what has become an open secret: Miguel Timm will be leaving the club.
In a social media post, the Buccaneers stated: “Thank you, Miguel Timm for every tackle, every pass, and every battle fought. Wishing you all the best.”
The midfielder joined the Soweto giants before the start of the 2022-23 season, after stints at various clubs across South Africa as well as a brief spell in the United States.
After playing a prominent role, his game time had begun to diminish under coach Jose Riveiro, and Pirates have decided not to trigger the option to extend the player’s contract beyond 30 June.
As his appearances became increasingly limited, Timm found himself falling down in the pecking order, with Makhehleni Makhaula and Thalente Mbatha preferred in central midfield.
The 33-year-old has been linked with interest from AmaZulu and Sekhukhune United, but after more than 60 games with Orlando Pirates, it now remains to be seen where he could play next.
