MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: Kaizer Chiefs MTN8 chances

Kaizer Chiefs could secure MTN8 qualification, but a few dominoes need to fall in their favour. Let’s take a look.

Amakhosi’s MTN8 dreams are still in their own hands, but they need to win both of their remaining league matches to guarantee a top-eight berth. They face two tough fixtures; first away to Sekhukhune and then at home against Polokwane. Sekhukhune vs Chiefs kicks off at 15:00 on Saturday, 17 May. Amakhosi host Polokwane on Saturday, 24 May, with kickoff also at 15:00.

What are the permutations?

Via Elio Mahlase:

“Babina Noko have already qualified for the top 8 and are also in the running to qualify for next season’s CAF Confederations Cup.

Rise and Shine need a convincing win against Cape Town City to nearly assure their top-eight finish before their last match of the season. For Kaizer Chiefs, their path is straightforward: they must win both of their remaining matches and hope for favourable outcomes.

The highest point total they can achieve is 36. However, Magesi FC and SuperSport United could surpass this total if they win all their matches, potentially knocking Amakhosi out of the top eight.”

Kaizer Chiefs sorely missed Duba in the middle of the campaign

Wandile Duba’s season was hit by injuries, but he still managed to churn out impressive performances, matched by a good output of goals and assists. With a full pre-season under his belt, Duba could be one of Chiefs’ most important weapons in 2025-2026. What’s his best position?
