American R&B singer Chris Brown has been remanded in custody in the United Kingdom following serious assault charges linked to a nightclub altercation in London.

The 36-year-old artist appeared in a Manchester magistrate’s court on Friday after being arrested at a hotel in the northern city.

The incident in question reportedly occurred on February 19, 2023, at Tape, a well-known nightclub in central London. Brown is accused of attacking a music producer with a bottle during what prosecutors described as an unprovoked outburst.

According to prosecutor Hannah Nicholls, the altercation was “an unprovoked attack with a weapon in a nightclub full of people.”

The Grammy-winning singer, whose chart-topping tracks include Loyal, Run It, and Under the Influence, is currently facing significant legal trouble just weeks before he was set to begin his “Breezy Bowl XX” world tour, scheduled to launch on June 8 in the Netherlands, with UK dates also on the calendar.

Presiding over Friday’s hearing, Judge Joanne Hirst ordered that Brown be held in custody until his next court appearance, which is scheduled for June 13 at Southwark Crown Court in London
