Award-winningactressGcinaMkhizehasopenedupaboutherongoingbattletokeepherfamilyhomeinMondeor,southofJohannesburg,revealingtheextentofthetraumashe’senduredoverthepastyear.
SpeakingonTheVoicewithPalesa podcast,theveteranperformersaidshestilllivesintheproperty,despiterepeatedattemptstoforceherout,andclaims a mafia-like syndicate istryingtosellthehousewithoutherconsent.
“Iamstillatthehousethatismychildren’sandmyhome.WherewillIgo?”shesaid,clearlyfrustrated. “TheSouthAfricanlawhasfailedmeandmykidssomuch;theydismisseverything.”
Mkhizefirsttrendedseveralmonths after posting videos online, claiming she wasillegallyevicted.
Sincethen,shehascontinuedtooccupythehousewithherdaughters,evenasthewindowsareroutinelysmashed.Shenowcoversthemwithplasticjusttokeeptheelementsout.
BackinSeptember,sherevealedthatsheandherdaughtersweresharingthecontestedhomewithtwounknownmen.
Themen,sheclaims,wereconnectedtoamanwhosaysheboughtthehouseatanauctionaftersheallegedlydefaultedonbondpayments.
Still,Mkhizerefusestoleave,insistingshe’swaitingforaproperevictionordertobeserved.
“Istillsaythereisasyndicatethatdealswithstealingpeople’shomes.Thepoliceareinvolved,peoplefromthebankandthecourts.Imightbewrong,butitiswhatIbelieve,”sheadded.
Now52,theactresssaysheraccoladesnolongerholdmeaningforher,especiallyaftertheharshtreatmentshe’sreceivedfromtheindustry.
“Igrappledwithitinthebeginning.ItdidnotmakesensetomethatwiththeworkthatIhavedone,theindustrywouldstilltreatmethewaythatitdid.Ifeltdiscarded…likesomeonewastryingtopunishmeorbeingspitefultowardsme.ItgottoapointwhereIstartedquestioningmytalent.”
Mkhizeclaimedshelaterdiscoveredthatsomeoneinapositionofinfluencehadtoldproductionhousesnottocasther.
“IwasnottobecastuntilIcomebackandapologisetothosepeople.Thebadthingisthatthatpersonisgoingtowaitforever.Iwillnotapologisetoanyone.”
Inaheartbreakingtwist,shealsosharedthatshehasbeenavictimofwitchcraftintheentertainmentindustry,somethingsheneverexpectedwouldcomefromsomeonesheonceconsideredfamily.
