Orlando Pirates have sought a temporary coach. Stepping into the massive shoes of Jose Riveiro won’t be easy.
Orlando Pirates make coaching statement
“The remaining matches of the season will be overseen by Assistant Coach Mandla Ncikazi. He will take charge of the team on an interim basis. He will be supported by Head Performance Analyst Rayaan Jacobs and the rest of the Club’s technical and support staff,” Orlando Pirates said in a statement.
Riveiro was asked if he would coach another local team:
“No [I won’t consider another PSL club], never,” he said. “Never… Once Always – I will never coach any other team in South Africa. I am a Buccaneer.
“Orlando Pirates is the only club that I could have the motivation and the courage and energy, and the heart, in this case, to coach in the country, no doubt.”
Makhaula is out for the season
Meanwhile, according to KickOff, Orlando Pirates’ 3-0 win against Golden Arrows came at a cost, with Makhehlene Makhaula forced off with a serious injury.
