‘I don’t feel that I want to go through what I went through this season,’ said the Chiefs head coach.

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has given the one reason he could quit the club at the end of this season.

Nabi led Chiefs to a first trophy in a decade when they won the Nedbank Cup on Saturday. Amakhosi beat Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates 2-1 in the final in Durban.

Chiefs’ struggles

In the Betway Premiership, however, it has not gone well for Amakhosi. Chiefs are currently in ninth position and in danger of missing out on a place in the MTN8 for the second year in a row.

The Sunday Times reported this weekend that Nabi is set to be fired by Chiefs at the end of the current campaign.

Nabi, meanwhile, has said that he could quit if he does not feel he is being backed by the club in the transfer market.

“I wouldn’t be honest if I say that I’m going stay, if the club doesn’t allow me to get all the tools to succeed next season because they have promised, Nabi told Extra Time on SuperSport.

“And myself, I have promised the fans that I want to build a successful team that will compete in every competition to win trophies,”

“That’s the condition for me to stay. I don’t feel that I want to go through what I went through this season.”

‘Beef up’

Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung did indicate after the final at the Moses Mabhida Stadium that they would be looking to strengthen the squad.

“This is a young team. We are still going to beef up. Obviously, we are going to Africa now,” Motaung told SuperSport TV.

Chiefs’ Nedbank Cup victory confirmed the team’s qualification for next season’s Caf Confederation Cup.
