Kaizer Chiefs target Fawaaz Basadien says he is enjoying his football at Stellenbosch FC, having helped the club reach the semi-finals of the CAF Confederations Cup last month.

The 28-year-old left-back has also been a regular for Bafana Bafana under Hugo Broos. His consistency has seen teams like Orlando Pirates and Amakhosi keep an eye on him.

Before the start of the season, Kaizer Chiefs made an offer for Basadien however, the Cape Winelands side rejected the offer. The defender is currently happy where he is and implies that he has no intention of leaving Stellies.

“I’m enjoying my football at the moment, that’s the reason [playing for the national team] why I’m doing well,” said Basadien as per FARPost.

“So, I’m enjoying my football, and also the environment I’m in brings out the best in me. That’s why I’m living my life very well now.”

Kaizer Chiefs’ offer for Basadien was turned down

“For me, I’m always grateful to be part of the national team. It’s always every player’s dream to be part of the national team,” added Basadien.

“And at the moment where the team is doing well, is a plus for me. But also I should give credit to the team because it’s doing well.

“Once a team does well, the individuals [are noticed], that’s why I’m part of the Bafana Bafana team.”

With Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates looking for a centre-back, it remains to be seen if Basadien would be persuaded.

Where should Basadien go?
