If your SASSA grant was declined or suspended, don’t worry. You can take steps to fix the problem. It could be due to a missing document or a change in your situation. Here’s what you need to do.
Understand Why It Happened First
Check your grant status on the official SASSA website:
SASSA SRD Status Check
If you applied for the SRD grant, the system should give you a specific reason for the decline, like “alternative income source identified” or “identity verification failed.” For other grants, you might need to call or visit a SASSA office for more information.
Steps to Fix Your Declined or Suspended SASSA Grant
- Correct Your Information
Log into the SASSA portal and update any wrong personal or banking details. - Submit Supporting Documents
If you were missing documents or they were not valid, re-upload them at your local SASSA office or online, depending on your grant. - Lodge an Appeal (for SRD)
You have 90 days to appeal a decline. Submit your appeal here:
SRD Appeals Portal - Contact SASSA Directly
Call 0800 60 10 11 or visit your nearest SASSA office if you can’t resolve the issue online.
