Kaizer Chiefs mentor Nasreddine Nabi has set his sights on lifting the Nedbank Cup this Saturday when his side clashes with fierce rivals Orlando Pirates at the iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium.

The Tunisian coach isn’t just showing up, he’s coming armed with experience, strategy, and a burning desire to win.

Nabi draws on international success

Nabi made it clear during the Nedbank Cup press conference at Naturena: he’s no stranger to high-stakes finals. With five cup final appearances in the last five seasons across Tanzania, Morocco, and now South Africa, he believes he has what it takes to deliver when it matters most.

“I played in the final last season with AS FAR (against Raja Casablanca). It was 1-1 and just one mistake and we lost the game. In the last five seasons I have been in five finals. Three in Tanzania, one in Morocco and now one in South Africa. I think I have experience in finals. In finals you need self-control. You don’t receive pressure in the finals and I know my approach with the players. Honestly I have the momentum and I know how to approach(win) the finals,” said Nabi.

This confidence could be the X-factor Amakhosi need as they chase a much-needed trophy to end a turbulent season.

Winning for the Chiefs supporters

While tactics matter, Nabi’s motivation runs deeper than strategy. The passionate coach wants to repay the unwavering loyalty of the Kaizer Chiefs faithful.

“I respect the fans. It’s normal to be disappointed when your team is losing. Also me, I am not happy. I am the first person affected by the results. I would like to win this Nedbank Cup for the fans and I would thank the fans and thank them for the support of the team,” he added.

The connection between coach, club, and supporters has never been more vital—and Nabi knows it.

Amakhosi vs Bucs: Showdown for the ages

This Saturday, Kaizer Chiefs will go head-to-head with Orlando Pirates in one of the most anticipated cup finals in recent memory. A win not only delivers silverware but also marks a symbolic turning point for a team eager to restore its glory.
