Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates in tug-of-war for the next Khama Billiat.
Zimbabwe international Daniel Msendami is lighting up the Premier Soccer League, and top clubs are racing to secure his signature.
At just 24, Msendami has already made waves across Southern African football. He first rose to prominence with Botswana’s Jwaneng Galaxy, where then-head coach Morena Ramoreboli made a bold prediction:
“The winger would be a major asset to any Premier Soccer League club due to his incredible potential.”
Dubbed “the next Billiat,” Msendami attracted attention long before landing in South Africa. Though trials at Cape Town Spurs didn’t result in a deal, Marumo Gallants snapped him up, securing one of the most promising talents of the season on a free transfer.
Turning Chiefs and Pirates heads
Since joining Gallants, Msendami has quickly proven why top clubs chased him. He has scored three goals and provided three assists in 31 appearances, all while playing across multiple positions—including left wing, right wing, and wing-back.
After leading Jwaneng Galaxy to the CAF Champions League group stages at the expense of Orlando Pirates, Msendami moved to Gallants amid interest from SuperSport United. Now, both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates have made inquiries, according to iDiski Times.
European clubs enter the race
The transfer window is still a few months away, but overseas clubs have already joined the hunt. Despite heavy domestic interest, there’s no guarantee Msendami will end up in Soweto. Gallants, known for turning talent into profit, may be poised for another major payday.
Gallants betting on another big sale
Marumo Gallants has built a reputation for maximizing returns on rising stars. With Msendami’s current form and growing international appeal, the club could once again cash in, this time on a player they acquired for free.
As the season nears its conclusion and the transfer window looms, one thing is certain. Daniel Msendami is no longer flying under the radar.
