Rachel Kolisi shows Tokai fires near sleeping kids

Rachel Kolisi, the estranged wife of Springboks captain Siya Kolisi, shared a video of their kids sleeping as she moved the camera to the view of the Tokai fires in Cape Town.

Springboks captain Siya Kolisi’s estranged wife, Rachel Kolisi has expressed her fear over the Tokai Fires. The Tokai Fires are multiple fires burning in Cape Town’s Table Mountain National Park.

Taking to her Instagram Story, Rachel has been sharing information and tips on how to help assist the firefighters. She also shared a video of her kids, who she shares with Siya, sleeping and panned the camera to the view of the fires on the mountain.

“This is honestly one of the scariest things I’ve ever experienced 💔. Definitely no sleep for me today,” she wrote on her Instagram Story.

She also shared another update at 04:49 this morning, which showed that the fires were still going on.

TOKAI FIRES UPDATE

Carolynne Franklin, counsellor of the City of Cape Town, explained that an emergency strategy is in place for the Tokai Fires.

“It’s been Armageddon here all day. More than 100 firefighters are on 5 fire fronts. Steenberg Estate is threatened, Zwaanswyk has been evacuated, and Noordhoek Manor has been evacuated. The situation tonight is pretty dire,” she said.

One the ground, it has been difficult to clear the ground for first responders.

“To go up the one road that’s being evacuated from Tokai curled up to the mountain when people are trying to get to safety or to fly your drones around choppers… those people should be jailed.”
