Mamelodi Sundowns welcome Egyptian giants Al Ahly to Loftus Versfeld stadium for a crucial CAF Champions League clash this afternoon.

The Brazilians will be looking to qualify for their first Champions League final since their title winning run in 2016.

Getting to the final however will require a solid performance in today’s semi-final first leg clash against the mighty Egyptians.

Action at Loftus Versfeld stadium is scheduled to get underway at 15:00.

The match will be televised live on SABC1 as well as the SuperSport WWE channel (SS209).

Today’s semi-final will act as the first of two legs, with the second taking place next weekend in Cairo.

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso is adamant his side can get past the Egyptian giants.

Here’s what he had to say ahead of the clash: “We know that Al Ahly in the last seven years have won a lot of Champions League titles. Last year, I unfortunately lost in the final against them, but I think beating them is a possibility,” Cardoso told the club’s official website.

“We will, however, need to make two very complete games, two strong games that will be played on the details. So, Sundowns will need to be strong and prepare ourselves in the best way possible.”
