Elon Musk’s father, Errol Musk, claims that President Cyril Ramphosa asked him to reach out to his son to get more involved in South Africa.

Musk (78) said the South African president wanted the tech billionaire to give the “ANC a thumbs up” before the 29 May 2024 elections.  In an interview with Sizwe Mpofu Welsh on SMWX, the father of the world’s richest man touched on several topics impacting South Africa.

“He wanted me to convince Elon to become involved in the country and give the ANC a bit of a thumbs up as the elections were coming in May,” Musk senior said. “I looked at the letter and thought that Elon is not going to endorse the ANC.

“I told Ramaphosa’s people that I don’t think Elon will respond to this and they said ‘leave it then, don’t send the letter’. I did send the letter to Elon out of interest,” he added.

Elon Musk’s father happy with GNU

When asked about the political landscape, Musk said he was happy with the National Government of Unity (GNU).

“I think it’s good, I think it was a good move last year. I mean you need to involve everybody then you don’t sit with these situations,” he said.

“I mean in South Africa, in the last few years, I’ve noticed that white people don’t have to worry about whether the black population have nice homes…in the times gone by under the so-called apartheid system, we were all felt like we were responsible for providing decent schools, hospital to black people but now we don’t feel like that,” said Elon Musk’s father.

Do you think ANC wanted Musk’s money?
