Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder sparks La Liga interest amid rapid rise.
Jayden Adams, one of South Africa’s brightest football talents, has caught the attention of European scouts, and not just any club. La Liga powerhouse Sevilla FC is actively tracking the Bafana Bafana star as he continues to shine for Sundowns.
Adams has delivered standout performances since joining Sundowns in January from Stellenbosch FC. His immediate impact at the club, combined with his growing role in the national team, has not gone unnoticed. Multiple reports already hinted at interest from Spain, but this publication has confirmed Sevilla FC as the club keeping tabs on the 23-year-old playmaker.
Sevilla scouts track Adams across Africa
Sevilla’s long-standing scouting network in Africa has played a pivotal role in identifying Adams. According to a trusted source close to both the player and Sundowns, Sevilla’s scouts have closely monitored Adams and flagged him as a top prospect.
“He is a player they have been monitoring for some time now. You know Sevilla SC have scouts in Africa and those are the scouts who recommended him to the club in Spain and when the club looked at some of his videos it’s believed that they were impressed and that’s when the interest grew. Now they are enquiring about him. Sevilla SC are interested in Jayden Adams,” the source revealed.
The Spanish side’s interest has intensified in recent weeks, with inquiries reportedly being made behind the scenes. Sevilla sees Adams as a potential midfield asset for the future, impressed by his vision, composure, and work ethic.
Sundowns hold firm: Adams central to future plans
Despite Sevilla’s growing interest, Mamelodi Sundowns have no plans to part ways with Adams anytime soon. The club views him as a key player for the future, especially with veterans like Themba Zwane nearing the end of their careers.
“Sundowns are trying to build the team around him with players like Themba Zwane nearing their retirement stages. It will be hard for Sundowns to let Adams go as soon as he joined the team. You know there is other interest in other experienced players as well. They apparently would rather let those go for now and keep Jayden. It won’t be easy to let him go,” a second insider explained.
Sundowns are committed to nurturing Adams’ talent and making him a centerpiece in their midfield rebuild. Letting him leave after such a short stint at the club doesn’t align with their long-term vision.
Europe calling but will Jayden make the leap?
Jayden Adams stands on the cusp of something special. Sevilla’s interest signals his growing stature in global football, but for now, his focus remains on delivering for Sundowns and Bafana Bafana.
With scouts watching, and his star rising, Adams could become the next South African talent to make the leap to Europe. But whether Sevilla can tempt Sundowns into selling remains to be seen.
