Florence Pugh has taken cinematic stunts to new heights—literally. In a jaw-dropping behind-the-scenes video released by Marvel Studios, the British actress performs a daring BASE jump from Merdeka 118.

This is the world’s second tallest building for the upcoming Marvel film Thunderbolts.

FLORENCE PUGH’S DARING STUNT

The footage has captivated fans worldwide and drawn comparisons to Tom Cruise’s iconic Burj Khalifa climb in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol.

Standing at an awe-inspiring 678.9 metres, Merdeka 118 towers over Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It serves as the backdrop for one of the film’s most thrilling sequences.

In the featurette, Pugh, who plays Yelena Belova—the successor to Black Widow—expresses her excitement before taking the plunge, according to Super Hero Hype.

“Of any stunt in any movie, this is amazing. How many times do you see someone throwing themselves off a building? It’s strange how zen I feel,” she says moments before stepping off the ledge.

FLORENCE PUGH’S BRAVERY

The video shows Pugh practising with a harness before executing the BASE jump. As she freefalls through the air, Kuala Lumpur’s skyline forms a serene yet dramatic backdrop.

Midway through her descent, she deploys her parachute and lands gracefully on one of the building’s levels—a manoeuvre that left viewers in awe.

Sebastian Stan, who reprises his role as Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier in Thunderbolts, adds to the tension in the video.

He described how “all hell breaks loose” during stunt countdowns, according to The Star.

MARVEL’S THUNDERBOLTS

The featurette also includes clips of other high-octane action scenes featuring the film’s ensemble cast.

The cast includes David Harbour (Red Guardian), Wyatt Russell (U.S. Agent), Olga Kurylenko (Taskmaster), and Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Valentina Allegra de Fontaine).

Marvel fans have noted that this scene showcases Pugh’s dedication to her craft and her willingness to push boundaries.

Her leap from Merdeka 118 has already become one of the most talked-about moments leading up to Thunderbolts’ release on May 2, 2025.

THE MERDEKA 118

Merdeka 118 isn’t just a skyscraper; it’s a symbol of Malaysian pride and independence, according to Screen Rant.

Located near Stadium Merdeka—the site where Malaysia proclaimed its independence in 1957—the building represents resilience and ambition.

Its inclusion in Thunderbolts has thrilled Malaysian fans, with many expressing excitement about seeing their country featured in a major Hollywood production.

One local commented online, “So happy they chose Malaysia for this scene! I work near Merdeka 118 and can’t wait to watch Florence Pugh’s jump on screen”.

BLOCKBUSTER IN THE MAKING

With its star-studded cast and heart-pounding action sequences, Thunderbolts promises to be a blockbuster.

As fans eagerly await its release, one thing is clear: Florence Pugh has cemented herself as one of Hollywood’s boldest stars.
