Saleng set for shock Orlando Pirates return?

Orlando Pirates fans would love to see Monnapule Saleng back on the wing following months of being starved of his talents.

December 7, against Al Ahly in the Champions League, was the last time the 27-year-old featured for the Buccaneers – Jose Riveiro, gunning for his first PSL and Champions League title, could certainly do with the Bloemhof-born baller as the season reaches its finale.

Saleng’s exile came after Orlando Pirates refused to meet his salary demands; according to reports, the dynamic forward is demanding a substantial increase to his R70,000 per week salary.

Nearly four months on, and neither the club nor the player seem any closer to meeting in the middle—an offseason exit appears imminent, which the club is said to be keen on avoiding, insinuating a Saleng-Orlando Pirates reunion to be on the cards.

“It’s the matter that is for the club and his handlers and it has nothing to do with his performances on the field,” a source explained. “If it gets sorted in the office before the end of the season, there is a chance that he can return to the field, as far as I understand.”

Maela exit certain?

Orlando Pirates are preparing to offload four players in the offseason, including club captain, Innocent Maela.

“So far, the four players [Maela, Phillip Ndlondlo, Karim Kimvuidi and Zakhele Lepasa] are on the list and are expected to leave at the end of the season,” a source revealed.

“What I can tell you for now, apparently, is that it’s believed these four players could be the ones to leave. The club is working with all the involved parties to look at the way forward so that they can reach an amicable solution where it is needed.”

Should Orlando Pirates try keep hold of Saleng?
