Former Kaizer Chiefs left-winger George Lebese disappointed a lot of people with his move to Mamelodi Sundowns in 2017.
However, there is ONE individual he HUGELY disappointed and felt he betrayed by refusing to sign a contract renewal.
In an interview with Robert Marawa on Radio 947, Lebese said he vividly remembers Bobby Motaung’s facial expression when he told him he wasn’t renewing his contract with Chiefs.
Lebese recalled how Motaung fetched and took him by hand from his home in Mamelodi wanting him to stay at Chiefs.
The left-footed attacker said he regretted from that minute when he looked back at how things happened given what Motaung had done for him over the years.
Lebese had been with Chiefs for nine years prior to his shock move to Sundowns which had nothing to do with money.
Nonetheless, the former Arcadia Sheppards attacker said he personally apologised to Motaung on several occasions.
HOW LEBESE SHOCKED AND DISAPPOINTED BOBBY AT KAIZER CHIEFS
“Bobby took me by hand from Mamelodi. I still remember our last conversation vividly when he put a paper [a renewal contract],” said Lebese as per FARPost.
“I was sitting across from him, and I said to him, ‘I’m not renewing’. I still remember how his face looked. He was in shock because he didn’t see that coming.
“Looking back at how things happened, it was like, ‘what have I done to this human being that has changed my life?’.
“I’ve always been apologetic about it. I sent him a message, I think, two weeks after I signed. I sent him messages to apologise.
“I met with him once, and I apologised again. I feel like that’s one person that I’ve disappointed immensely,” added Lebese.
WAS BOBBY JUSTIFIED TO BE DISAPPOINTED IN GEORGE?
