Renowned producer and DJ Black Coffee is trending after being reported as one of the six individuals allegedly interested in buying Royal AM Football Club.

The South African Revenue Service (Sars) put the club up for sale to recoup an R40 million debt owned by celebrated businesswoman Shauwn ‘MaMkhize’ Mkhize.

DJ BLACK COFFEE ALLEGEDLY BIDS FOR ROYAL AM

The sale came after the MaMkhize failed to settle her debt to the taxman. Her financial woes saw the Sars raiding her R20 million La Lucia Durban mansion before going after her club, Royal AM.

Interested buyers were expected to submit their respective bids to Sars by Friday, 14 March, with Jaco Venter monitoring the process.

However, the club’s new owner has yet to be revealed, but the media has since revealed some of the alleged bidders, with some confirming their bids.

According to Sunday World, DJ Black Coffee was an alleged bidder. Little is known about his bid, and the curator has yet to confirm whether the Grammy award-winner showed interest in the troubled PSL club.

DJ Black Coffee has not addressed the reports that have thrust him into the top trends.

Reports suggest that the winning bid was around R25 million, more than the price Sars reportedly set for the club.

However, the identity of the new club has yet to be revealed, leaving many to guess. MK Party Member of Parliament David Skosana also submitted his bid.

The former football administrator confirmed his R15 million bid to the media. He believes the bid was not good enough to win.

Rumour mill has it that Joe Sibanyoni, an unmanned DRC business tycoon and a Greek businessman, also bid for Royal AM.

A GOING CONCERN SALE

Reports have it that the sale was allegedly structured as a going concern, which means the new owner would inherit the club’s debt and other obligations. Some of the notable obligations include:

  • Samir Nurkovic and Ricardo Nascimento’s unpaid wages
  • Court Cases (one against the Democratic Alliance over the R27 million sponsorship deal)
  • Outstanding salaries and contracts of the players

NET WORTH

No doubt, the reports of DJ Black Coffee’s bid have since implicated his net worth into the mix.

With an illustrious career spanning years, DJ Black Coffee has quickly become one of the most celebrated DJs in the world.

DJ Black Coffee has made Europe his playing ground and is best known for his popular Ibiza sets.

Reports have it that he usually charges at least R4 million for a set on the Spanish island in the Mediterranean Sea.

Rumour has it that the Grammy Award winner has an estimated net worth of R990 million.
