Nasreddine Nabi’s message to Kaizer Chiefs supporters

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi is calling for patience following the club’s 2-0 loss to Richards Bay on Sunday afternoon at the King Zwelithini Stadium.

Amakhosi were hoping to add three points to push for a top-three finish but Natal Rich Boys had other plans. Two goals in the second half saw Chiefs suffer their ninth league defeat of the season. Since Nabi took over as coach, the club has shown improvement but is still nowhere near rivals Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.

After Sundowns’s defeat, Nabi said Kaizer Chiefs were still in a rebuilding phase. After 22 matches, the Glamour Boys sit eighth in the Betway Premiership with just eight wins.

“We are in the process of rebuilding a team and a big club such as Kaizer Chiefs is not built in six or seven months, you need more time than that,” Nabi told the media.

“We know exactly what we need to have a better team or club. And it is not today because we are losing and tomorrow when we are winning and say the opposite. I have to emphasise that we are in the building process and we know exactly what we need.”

The Tunisian mentor’s mandate this season was to rebuild Chiefs after the side finished a disappointing 10th in the 2023/24 season. Nabi’s tenure started with back-to-back league wins and at one point, Amakhosi were top of the log. Inconsistency, lack of quality players and mistakes at the back have led been the team’s biggest downfall.

It remains to be seen whether Kaizer Chiefs supporters will be patient with Nabi in the next few games.

Will Nabi finish the season?
