Kaizer Chiefs suffer ninth league defeat; was it Nabi’s last match?

The pressure is mounting on Kaizer Chiefshead coach Nasreddine Nabi following another defeat.

Amakhosi suffered their ninth league defeat of the season at the hands of Richards Bay on Sunday afternoon.

Two second half goals gave the Natal Rich Boys all three points at the King Zwelithini Stadium.  Defeat leaves Kaizer Chiefs in eighth after 22 matches.

The biggest concern will be the club’s inconsistency, especially in the second half of the season. Despite bringing in 10 new players this season, Nabi has not made Kaizer Chiefs a team to beat.

The Tunisian insists that the club are on the right track.“We are building a team, and a big team like Kaizer Chiefs doesn’t come together in just six or seven months. It takes time,” Nabi said after another defeat.

“We know exactly what we need to improve this team and this club. The results of a single game won’t change our vision,” he added.

Nabi under pressure after another Kaizer Chiefs loss

Amakhosi are unlikely to finish in the top three following another defeat this season. With the top eight position under threat, Kaizer Chiefs management might pull the trigger on Nabi before the season ends. The only thing that can save him is the Nedbank Cup. Amakhosi are currently in the semifinals of the competition and could face rivals Mamelodi Sundowns.

The pressure is on and time will tell if Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddina Nabi will survive the axe. The Soweto giants are in action again next month against Golden Arrows.

Can Nabi finish the season or will he get the chop?
