Kaizer Chiefs face Richards Bay later today as they look to climb back into the top four.
The Glamour Boys left Cape Town with a draw on Wednesday, halting their ascent and cementing them to eighth on the log.
Next best thing?
AmaKhosi have secured 17-year-old shot-stopper Takalani Mazhamba to a three-year deal following successive successful seasons on the DDC circuit. The promising youngster has a COSAFA U-20 champion on his resume.
“They have been looking at different young goalkeepers, but Mazhamba has stood out in recent times both in training with the senior team as well as in games for the DDC team where he has kept six clean sheets and the club is happy with that and that’s why they are offering him a three-year senior team contract,” a Siyasource confirmed.
Nabi on thin ice
Nasreddine Nabi’s future at Kaizer Chiefs is as unpredictable as the weather, following a lacklustre season that has shown glimmers of hope.
According to reports, some of AmaKhosi’s upper echelon is calling for his exit, unconvinced by his ability to restore Chiefs to winning ways.
“It’s getting hard and tougher for the management team now,” said SoccerLaduma.
“It’s believed that they thought by now the results would have started to show as the coach came with high expectations, but things are not working according to plan,
“Apparently, that’s what is not making them happy. They don’t just want the team to play well. No. They want results and so far they have lost to the all so-called big teams,” the publication reported.
“That’s the other reason why management is not happy so as they feel they have given him enough time to show what he can do for the team. They think and believe that they have a great squad which can easily compete and be up there among Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates,
“Because they are failing to do that, it’s why management is dissatisfied and unhappy with the results and the coach right now.”
