There’s some movement in the Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeping department.
According to reports, AmaKhosi is signing DDC’s keeper Takalani Mazhamba on a three-year deal. The 17-year-old phenom has U-20 Bafana experience and is one many are pointing at for the future of South African soccer.
Mazgamba’s arrival puts Fiarce Ntwari and Bontle Molefe’s positions in jeopardy as another reshuffle of players is predicted to occur during the winter window. Both number ones could face the axe.
Rumours confirmed
The DDC star has been on Kaizer Chiefs’ radar for some time; “They have been looking at different young goalkeepers but Mazhamba has stood out in recent times both in training with the senior team as well as in games for the DDC team where he has kept six clean sheets and the club is happy with that and that’s why they are offering him a three-year senior team contract,” a Siyasource confirmed.
“The technical team believes if given more game time in friendly games in the pre-season then he could compete at a higher level as well”
Another source reaffirmed the news, saying, “the team (Chiefs) is looking for an experienced goalkeeper but at the same time they may release two as they look to cut down players in the goalkeeping department,
“It’s believed that they are looking at Bontle Molefe and Fiacre Ntwari to be either loaned out or sold if chances be and promote Takalani (Mazhamba).”
Consistency is key
Kaizer Chiefs versus Cape Town City finished scoreless on Tuesday, cementing Nasreddine Nabi’s side to eighth on the log. Following the game, captain Inacio Miguel called for consistency, saying, “What defines us will be consistency, and that is what we are searching for because the difference between good teams and average teams is consistency,
“If we can maintain that and continue to have a winning mentality, we can climb higher than where we are now. That would mean we are developing and growing.”
