With a career spanning years, Springbok flyhalf Handre Pollard has been dubbed one of the most celebrated rugby starsin the world since his debut.

He was part of the history-making squad at the tenth edition of the Rugby World Cup, which France hosted in 2023. The Springboks edged New Zealand 12-11 in the final.

During the biggest rugby tournament in the world, Handre Pollard had his moments of brilliance in the semi-finals against England and in the final against the All Blacks.

He kicked a late match-winning penalty in the semi-final against England and scored all 12 of the Boks’ points in the win against the All Blacks in the final.

The win undoubtedly saw the Springboks go down in the Rugby World Cup history books. The Boks became the first team to win four World Cups in eight appearances.

The Springboks also became the second team after the All Blacks to win the World Cup back-to-back.

However, against the backdrop of his birthday, fans have been trying to connect the dots if the celebrated flyhalf will be part of the Springboks Rugby World Cup squad for 2027.

Will Handre Pollard play another Rugby World Cup? His age convinced many that he might have his last RWC dance in 2027.

The 31-year-old was born on 11 March 1994 in Somerset West, South Africa. He will be 33 at the next Rugby World Cup edition.

Handre Pollard joins a host of Springbok stars who might have their last dance at the RWC in 2027, including Siya Kolisi and Bongi Mbonambi.

CAREER

He started his career at a younger age and had his first provincial call-up when he was selected for the Western Province Squad in 2007, an Under-13 edition.

He represented the province three years later at the Under-16 Grant Khomo Week in 2010. A year later, Handre Pollard participated in the Under-18 Craven Week competitions.

In 2013, he starred for UP Tuks before making his senior debut for the Blue Bulls.

His command of the game and flair saw him playing for a string of clubs, including the Bulls, Red Hurricanes Osaka, Montpellier and Leicester Tigers.

However, he is set to return to Pretoria at the end of the season, having signed a two-year dealwith the Bulls.
