Earnest tributes and condolences continue to pour in after the death of Jay Badza, CEO and founder of brand and marketing agency Orchard on 25. He is remembered as a beacon of light for young creatives.
The award-winning branding, marketing, and public relations expert passed away at the tender age of 38. Jay hailed from Dobsonville, and was known to have worked with prolific figures in the entertainment industry, such as Bonang Matheba; his company has also worked with prominent brands such as All Gold, Kelloggs, Neutrogena and Heineken among others.
Orchard on 25 confirmed his untimely death, with a release of an official statement.
“It is with deep sadness that we share the devastating news of the passing of Orchard on 25 Founder and Head Honcho, Jay Badza,” read the statement.
He is remembered as a true visionary and passionate leader in the public relations and marketing industry, and he was affectionately known as Mr Jay.
“He poured his heart into elevating young creatives. He wasn’t just a mentor but a guiding light who nurtured countless individuals and ignited their potential. His unwavering commitment to innovation and the relentless pursuit of excellence not only transformed the industry; it transformed lives.”
The company offered their deepest condolences to Jay’s family, shared eternal gratitude for the extraordinary legacy he leaves behind, and mentioned that the void he leaves is immeasurable.
X (formerly Twitter) users shared their heartfelt tributes for Jay.
One user said: “I came across these old pictures on Facebook last month and I saved them. Wanted to post them and remind him of the good old Jenni Newman days. Yhu! Can’t believe you’re gone, Jay.”
Another one said: “Jay believed in young creatives so much, what a sad loss, may God comfort his family.”
Another one said: “I remember they called Jay on radio as a joke, and one of the radio hosts said he just bought a house and he’s gonna prank him and say he needs to move in, and he was like ‘you know what? Sure, everyone wants to live in Sandton’.”
