The ongoing Monnapule Saleng Orlando Pirates saga continues. Sooner or later, the club needs to find a resolution.

Saleng wants a fair deal at Orlando Pirates

With 26-year-old Monnapule Saleng frozen out of the side and with zero first-team minutes for the club in 2025, there have been widespread calls for clarity on the situation.

“He’s not happy with how he has been treated by Orlando Pirates,” an insider told Citizenregarding Saleng and the ongoing confusion around his situation at the club.

“He feels he deserves better, especially for what he has done for the club. Even this season, he was doing well before this whole thing started. He just wants a fair deal from Pirates, that’s all.”

Frozen out of the Orlando Pirates side by Riveiro

Saleng started this campaign well with five goals in 13 outings, including a strike in the MTN8 final, but the second half of 2024-2025 has been a horror show for the player. He hasn’t played a single competitive minute since the turn of the year. Ironically, his last minutes in a Pirates jersey came in a Caf Champions League group stage match against Al Ahly, the club that tried to sign him. It’s been revealed that ‘personal reasons’ are behind his exile in 2025, not issues owing to fitness.

Public statement from Saleng’s representatives

Amid speculation and ongoing media gossip, P Management has stated there are “significant issues at the core of the employer-employee relationship”. However, they also insisted, together with their client, Saleng, they remain committed to finding an “amicable solution”.
