Now, the club has expanded its search to include Yanga SC’s experienced goalkeeper Djigui Diarra, signaling a deeper push for a reliable shot-stopper.
Nabi and Kaze familiar with Diarra’s quality
Sources close to Kaizer Chiefs confirm that Nabi and his assistant coach, Cedric Kaze, are very familiar with Diarra’s abilities. Both believe that his experience and skillset could significantly enhance the team’s goalkeeping options. As the team narrows its focus on the right goalkeeper, insiders highlight that both coaches view Diarra as a potential game-changer for their squad.
“We believe that the club is still working on finding the right goalkeeper and that’s why they are still looking at all the different profiles of different goalkeepers. Yes, they have apparently shown interest in Toaster Nsabata and Xolani Ngcobo but they have not finalized next season’s signings yet and now they have inquired about Djigui (Diarra) from Yanga,” a source shared.
Connection with Diarra could seal the deal
Nabi and Kaze’s past relationship with Diarra could prove crucial in landing the Mali international. Both coaches worked with Diarra during his time at Yanga SC, where they enjoyed great success. Under their guidance, Diarra helped secure two league titles and two cup doubles.
“They are apparently looking at a goalkeeper that they know and has experience. So, out of the three, Nsabata, Ngcobo, and now Diarra, it seems the coaches know Diarra much better, having worked with him before in Tanzania,” revealed another source close to the club. “So, for now it’s just interest and an inquiry, so let’s see who they could finally get.”

With Diarra’s track record and the strong relationship he shares with the Kaizer Chiefs technical team, the move could be the perfect fit for the club. As the search for a new goalkeeper intensifies.
