On Friday afternoon, 18 suspects were killed in a shootout with police in Limpopo.
High-ranking police officers are on their way to the crime scene in Makhado.
These officials include General Fannie Masemola, the National Commissioner of the South African Police Services; General Lebeya, the national head of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (known as the Hawks); and Lieutenant General Tebello Mosikili, the Deputy National Commissioner of Policing.
Brigadier Athlenda Mathe, national police spokesperson, said further information would be released later.
It is suspected that the suspects are linked to Cash-in-transit robberies.
